Community issues
At times our community faces initiatives and/or issues that may affect our community (e.g., traffic and construction). The HPRA is involved in some of the initiatives and attempts as much as possible to address and assist in resolving issues that are affecting our community or HPRA members.

Redevelopment of the Webb Motel Property
Redevelopment of the Webb Motel Property is the recent activity that has an impact on the three communities along Carling Ave. - Westboro, Highland Park, and McKellar.
The current development plan includes a nine stories retirement home with 160 units and a 19 stories rental tower with 194 units for a total of 354 units. The plan also suggests 66 parking spaces for the retirement home and 187 parking spaces for the rental tower.
Such development may change the characteristic of the neigbhourhood and would most likely increase the pressure with respect to traffic and parking. In particular when the number of proposed parking spaces is significantly less than the number of proposed units.
